Roles

Give teammates the access they need, from full admins to office staff who book inspections for your inspectors.

Every member of an organization has a role. The role decides what they can change. Everyone in the org can still see all of its inspections.

  • Admin — full access. An organization always has at least one admin.
  • Inspector — performs and writes inspections. Inspections they create are theirs.
  • Office — for a secretary or office coordinator. Office staff handle everything around an inspection: booking, clients, agreements, payments, and delivering the report. They don't write report content or edit templates.

Booking an inspection for an inspector

When office staff (or an admin) click Add Inspection, the first step has an Inspector field. The inspection belongs to that inspector:

  • Their name, signature and business profile go on the report.
  • Their default template, fee, agreement and scheduling settings fill in the rest of the form.
  • It counts toward their plan. Office staff never need a subscription of their own.
  • The date is checked against their calendar, and it syncs to their Google Calendar if they've connected one.
  • The inspector gets a notification that a new inspection was assigned to them.

Office staff and admins can choose a different inspector on the inspection's Details tab, until the report is published.

Changing someone's role

Admins can change roles in Settings → Organization → Members with the role menu on each row. You can't remove the last admin. Make someone else an admin first.

Members who joined before roles existed are admins, so nobody lost access when roles were introduced.
