How clients review and sign your agreement online before they can view the published report.
A pre-inspection agreement is a document your client reviews and signs online before they can view the published report. You write the agreement once, attach it to an inspection, and Eave handles the signing link, the report lock, and a recorded copy of the signed document.
Write an agreement — author a template on the Agreements page, starting from our sample. See Writing agreement templates.
Attach it to an inspection — turn on the Pre-inspection agreement switch when you create the inspection, or add one later from the Deliver page. See Managing agreements on an inspection.
The client signs — every client with an email gets a signing link automatically, by default once the inspection has a scheduled date. They type their full legal name, check an "I agree" box, and sign. See The client signing experience.
The report unlocks — the moment a client signs, the published report unlocks for everyone. You get a notification and email, and a signed PDF copy is stored on the inspection.
While an attached agreement is unsigned, the published report is locked. Anyone opening the report link sees a "Your report is almost ready" screen with a Review & Sign Agreement button instead of the report content — for both clients and view-only recipients.
If you also collect the inspection fee through Eave, the agreement comes first: the client signs, then pays, then views the report.
To unlock a report without a signature — for example, if a client signed on paper — you can mark the agreement signed manually or remove it entirely from the Deliver page. See Managing agreements on an inspection.
New agreements start from our built-in Standard Pre-Inspection Agreement, and it's also used as a fallback when you haven't written your own. It's a generic starting point, not legal advice.
Have your attorney review any agreement before using it with clients — requirements vary by state.
