An inspection's fee can be a flat amount, or Eave can calculate it from your rates and the size of the job.
Go to Settings → Account → Defaults and switch Default fee to Calculated. Every calculated fee starts with a base fee. Add any of these charges on top:
| Charge | How it's priced |
|---|---|
| Square footage | A price per sq ft (or per block, like 500 sq ft) over the first part, which the base fee covers |
| Additional structures | Per detached garage, ADU, shed, or outbuilding |
| Additional dwelling units | Per unit beyond those included, for duplexes and multi-family |
| Travel distance | Per mile beyond your free service radius |
| Older-home surcharge | A flat add-on when the home was built before a year you choose |
A partial block is charged as a whole one. For example, at $25 per 500 sq ft, 150 sq ft over the included size costs $25.
You can also set a minimum fee. Each pricing editor shows a worked example so you can check your numbers.
Organization admins can set the same pricing in Settings → Organization → Defaults. Members who haven't set their own pricing use the organization's.
Open a template and click the fee button in the top bar to give it its own pricing. When an inspection uses several templates, each one adds its own lines. Square footage and the other amounts are entered only once.
A template with no pricing of its own uses your account pricing. If an inspection has several templates without pricing, your account pricing is added only once.
When you add an inspection, the Fee step shows a Calculated fee. Enter the square footage and any other amounts, and each line of the math is listed with its total. You can also:
Both options are also on the inspection's Details page. Once a report is published and locked, its fee can't be changed.
Turn on Show the price breakdown to clients in your defaults, or on a single inspection. The client then sees the itemized fee on their report and on the pay page. It is off by default, and only calculated fees are itemized.
