Workspaces

Switch between your Personal account and your organization, and move inspections and templates into the organization.

Once you're in an organization, Eave has two workspaces for you:

  • Personal — your own account. Only you can see what's in it.
  • Your organization — shared with everyone in the org, and governed by your role.

Switch between them with the workspace menu at the top of the sidebar.

What changes when you switch

The workspace you're in decides what you see and where new things go:

  • Inspections, the dashboard, and the sidebar's drafts show only that workspace's inspections.
  • Templates shows that workspace's templates. The Default badge is your own default in Personal and the organization's default in the org.
  • The Scheduling calendar shows that workspace's jobs. When you book a time, Eave still checks your whole calendar, so a Personal job and an org job can't land on top of each other.
  • New inspections and templates are created in the workspace you're in.
  • Tasks in the bottom-right tray match the workspace. Office staff don't see template or inspection setup tasks for the organization.

Opening a link to an inspection from the other workspace switches you there automatically. The inspection's header shows which workspace it belongs to.

Personal is your own account

In Personal, organization settings don't apply. Your reports and emails carry your own business name and logo, and your own defaults, pricing and availability are used, never the organization's.

Your role doesn't apply in Personal either. If you're office staff in the organization, you can still create inspections and templates in Personal. They count toward your own plan, the same as they would without an organization.

Moving something into your organization

You can move a Personal inspection or template into the organization:

  1. Open the ⋯ menu on the inspection or template, in the list or in its header.
  2. Choose Move to your organization.
  3. Confirm.

The organization then owns it, including the inspection's photos and report, and its admins and inspectors can view and edit it. You stay the inspector on the report.

Moving is one-way. An inspection or template can't be moved back to your Personal workspace.

A few things to know:

  • Only the person who created an item can move it, and you need to be an admin or inspector in the organization. Office staff can't move inspections in.
  • An inspection marked Published – Locked can't be moved, because moving it would change the branding on a locked report your client already has.
  • A published report that isn't locked is moved, and its PDF is regenerated with the organization's branding the next time it's downloaded.
